High-speed camera recordings
show vortices and the circular motion generated in a 1 mm diameter well of a
1536 well plate.
The force required to
overcome the surface tension and to generate a vortex in a very small well in an uHTS format well may require speeds of 10,000 RPM or higher.
A 100 micron
polystyrene bead located inside the well helps to visualize the orbital
motion. It is NOT placed for agitation purposes.
